When deciding to sell, looking at your home from an outsider’s perspective can be a challenge. Research shows that buyers won’t even get out of the car if they don’t enjoy looking at the property from the street. If the exterior looks lackluster, they think the interior will be the same.
Your Realtor® will explain some ways to step up your game when it comes to your property’s curb appeal. Even with a limited budget, you can greatly enhance your home’s visual appeal by focusing on a few key areas.
Here is a list I have compiled that can help you step back and take a look from a potential buyer’s perspective:
■ Add colorful seasonal plants to existing flower beds and pull weeds.
■ Install new house address numbers and a mailbox.
■ Install a new storm door or replace the hardware on your old door.
■ Install a new, smart doorbell button or door knocker.
■ Place a new welcome mat and potted plants at the entrance.
■ Instal lighting along your driveway or sidewalk.
■ Degrease your driveway and pulling all weeds in cracks.
■ Edge your grass along the driveway or sidewalks for a crisp look.
■ Install lighting along your driveway or sidewalk.
■ Clean light fixtures and double check that all of your outdoor light bulbs are working.
■ Clean out your gutters.
■ Power wash your siding and windows.
■ Clean windows.
■ Park additional cars, boats or other recreational vehicles at another location until closing.
■ Repaint chipped paint areas. If repainting home, garage or shed be sure to use neutral colors.
■ Pick up doggy poo and children’s toys.
Most of these items are cheap or free to do yourself and make selling your home much easier. Be sure to ask your Realtor® what you can do to your home to get the most for your money.
